You already know my #mcm goes out to these two dudes. Ever since I was introduced to Macklemore in the summer of 2010, I found inspiration in his music and views on how to reach people. I also found inspiration in the way this photographer he worked with (Ryan Lewis) saw things through a lens, specifically through a film called “Fake Empire.”
Whether you like their style or not, you have to give credit where it is due. These guys won 4…FOUR…Grammy awards last night without a record deal. They worked their butts off for it.
I love being a fan of these men who make quality art with insane work ethic and humility, yet still have a blast doing it, all the while trying to reach people and change the way we view our world (Otherside, Same Love, Wings, Starting Over, etc). I have so much respect for that.
I also have my one word (hashtag) for 2014 specifically for photography, and it is #MakePortraits
I love portraits, but I rarely take them because I honestly do not enjoy asking people if I can photograph them. So my 2014 resolution is to change that.
Sorry @brittyburd I really liked this one, so you’re my cover girl for this ;)
It took me awhile, but I’ve finally decided on my word for the year.
I chose “present” because I have a strong desire to slow my mind and allow myself to invest in and enjoy the moment that I am in at any given time.
Lately I have been too future-minded to the point of worry, and I’m unable to be present in my own life and the lives of those around me.
This year I wish to find some balance in that. I’m excited with my decision and I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish.

2013 was a good year, from my sixth trip to Uganda to starting a LifeGroup to new tattoos to having my best semesters in school so far. I’m truly thankful for everyone in my life. I’m spoiled beyond belief with love from family and friends. I couldn’t be any more blessed. Excited for 2014! #vscocam #flipagram
